The mission of the Texas Exes Asian Alumni Network (TEAAN) is to connect Asian Alumni with one other as well as with the Asian student community through scholarship, fellowship, and mentorship. We aim to preserve Asian culture and heritage by building a stronger, more visible Asian community at The University of Texas at Austin and beyond.

Founded in 2008, TEAAN is a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization and also an official network of the larger Texas Exes Association.

Makeup of the Steering Committee

Steering Committee members are elected for a 1 year term of service, after which they can choose to re-run for another term. Steering Committee members must be active Texas Exes paid members for the year in which they serve. The committee is made up of a broad and diverse cross-section of members, representing all TEAAN constituents. Serving on the Steering Committee should be a memorable and meaningful experience for a Texas Ex.

The Steering Committee will be made up of various committees that will implement the TEAAN Strategic Plan and activities that promote the Network’s vision and mission.

Expected Responsibilities:

  1. Serve in leadership positions and willingly undertake special assignments with enthusiasm.
  2. Attend monthly Steering Committee meetings and maintain discretion of confidential information given to you. Meetings are usually scheduled on the third Wednesday over dinner.
  3. Assist in identifying potential donors and help in implementing strategies through personal influence within your existing networks (corporations, individuals, foundations, etc.).
  4. Work with fellow steering committee members to contribute an additional hours towards implementing the TEAAN strategic plan and help with the development of network policies, structures, and procedures.
  5. Attend TEAAN signature and social events in order to help promote TEAAN’s presence within the community.
  6. Promote the network and its activities to one’s constituencies.
  7. Nominate and approve future Steering Committee Members.
  8. Have an innate passion to help advance and significantly contribute to TEAAN’s mission by going above and beyond what is required of Steering Committee members.
